In 2025, World Vision U.S. reached 300,000 people through our Education initiatives

Highlights

Learning Roots

Learning Roots is World Vision’s play-based early childhood development model grounded in global best practices that supports children ages 3 to 6. It equips caregivers, trains teachers, and strengthens systems to ensure children are ready for school and lifelong learning. Results in one context showed a significant increase in the percentage of children aged 3-6 years who are developmentally on track in all domains.

Unlock Literacy

Unlock Literacy is World Vision’s evidence-based program to enhance early-grade reading by supporting teachers, equipping parents to foster literacy at home, and involving communities in reading activities outside of school. A cross-country analysis found that in ten pilot countries, seven showed significant reading gains, surpassing global benchmarks for impact.

IMPACT+

IMPACT+ is World Vision’s life skills and active citizenship program for adolescents, implemented in over 30 countries. In 2023-2024, it reached over 60,000 adolescents. The approach has been proven to enhance developmental assets and civic participation, fostering social cohesion and a smooth transition to productive adulthood.

About

Creating safe, inclusive spaces where all children can learn and grow.

World Vision’s goal is to ensure equitable access to quality education and improved retention and learning for all girls and boys — including those with disabilities — in the areas of literacy, numeracy, and social and emotional learning, empowering them with the skills for better life opportunities and a brighter future. We seek to remove barriers to education and create a supportive, safe learning environment where children feel protected and free from violence.

We work with children and adolescents, schools, communities, and local governments to strengthen teacher skills, remove harmful social and gender norms that contribute to gender-based violence in schools, build capacity in inclusive education, provide access to reading materials in local languages, and strengthen school management and parental/community involvement in education.

We aim to make an impact on children’s lives by working with communities, partners, and local governments to:

  • Support play-based early childhood development approaches
  • Increase the number of primary school children who can read and achieve a minimum proficiency in mathematics
  • Ensure more girls and boys are protected from violence
  • Improve adolescents’ education and life skills
  • Leverage innovation and technology to increase reading outcomes for children with disabilities and those in low-resource contexts
