All Children Reading (ACR) was a 12-year global initiative led by USAID, World Vision, and the Australian Government to advance EdTech innovation and improve reading outcomes for marginalized children. ACR demonstrated how digital technology can enhance inclusive literacy, exemplified by Kenya’s partnership with eKitabu to produce visual storybooks with sign language and Malawi’s creation of hundreds of accessible e-books in local languages and sign language. These practical examples are included in UNESCO’s 2023 Global Education Monitoring Report: Technology in Education – A Tool on Whose Terms?, which emphasizes that technology should complement, not replace, human teaching, and prioritize equity, learner needs, and evidence-based approaches. ACR’s focus on local innovation, accessibility, and research-based solutions illustrated how thoughtfully applied technology can improve learning outcomes for the most marginalized.
