Between 2012 and 2018, increased household coverage of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) in Mozambique led to an estimated 14,040 under-5 child deaths being averted. Using the Lives Saved Tool (LiST), which accounted for provincial differences in mortality rates and health intervention coverage, the study projected that maintaining 2018 ITN coverage levels through 2025 could prevent an additional 33,277 child deaths. If ITN coverage reaches 85% in all provinces by 2022, 36,063 child lives could be saved. The highest number of lives saved was observed in Zambezia and Tete provinces. However, the study emphasizes that without sustained investment, thousands of preventable child deaths will occur.
