This document offers guidance on how to integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion-transformative faith-based interventions into development work. It provides practical strategies for using a faith lens to promote GESI across various programming sectors and vice versa. The intersection between faith and GESI can have complex effects, either supporting GESI or, in some cases, exacerbating gender inequality and social exclusion. Without intentionally considering these dynamics, interventions may inadvertently create barriers to access, decision-making, participation, and well-being for the most vulnerable, particularly women and girls, preventing them from contributing to or benefiting from development, recovery, and peace initiatives. The reference guide helps sector teams incorporate GESI and faith into program analyses and priority-setting, ensuring equal and inclusive access, participation, and decision-making.
