Empowered Aid is a participatory action research project led by the Global Women’s Institute and implemented in Jordan with World Vision. The project focuses on preventing sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) by centering the voices of girls and women in how humanitarian aid is delivered. In Al Azraq camp, refugee women and girls identified SEA-related risks when accessing services, including harassment near aid centers. The project piloted low- to no-cost, community-informed solutions to improve safety and access, while advocating for long-term, gender-transformative approaches that address power imbalances and promote sustained participation of women and girls in aid decision-making.
