Washington, D.C. — October 16, 2025 — World Vision was recognized with an Honorable Mention for the 2025 Disability Inclusion Award at InterAction’s annual Forum, held at Convene in Washington, D.C.
The award ceremony took place during the Main Stage Discussion, where World Vision joined other distinguished organizations in celebrating achievements in disability inclusion across the humanitarian and development sector.
The Disability Inclusion Award Selection Committee commended World Vision for its ambitious, organization-wide commitment to disability inclusion. Since making a public pledge at the Global Disability Summit in 2022, World Vision has increased the number of children with disabilities served in its long-term development programs by more than threefold, on track to meet the goal of reaching five times the original number by the end of 2026. This progress was made possible through strategic partnerships with organizations of persons with disabilities and providers of disability services, as well as investments in staff training and the integration of disability inclusion across WASH, education, child protection, livelihoods, and health programming.
World Vision’s innovative approaches include the development of a disability case management system to support the identification, referral, and follow-up of children with disabilities by community-based non-specialists. In education, Universal Design for Learning has been incorporated into teaching materials, teacher training, and the Measuring Evidence of Quality Achieved (MEQA) tool. The organization also committed private funding to ensure continued support for more than 20,000 children with disabilities in Rwanda following the conclusion of a major USAID education award.
World Vision actively shares its learning and resources with the wider sector, including training materials, practice notes, and research publications on disability inclusion in agriculture, digital case management, and holistic wheelchair services. These resources are available to NGO and government actors globally, supporting the advancement of disability-inclusive development.
The Honorable Mention at the InterAction Forum adds to World Vision’s growing recognition in the field, including six Zero Project awards since 2020 for innovative work supporting children with disabilities in WASH, social accountability, livelihoods, and education.
Edward Winter, Senior Technical Advisor for Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), accepted the award on behalf of World Vision.
