On December 1st, we celebrated the launch of Mapping the Blue Thread, World Vision’s new Global Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Business Plan. Mapping the Blue Thread is our vision to deliver adaptive water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions that transform communities and create pathways out of poverty.
During the launch participants heard from key speakers, including World Vision President and CEO Edgar Sandoval, as we shared how Mapping the Blue Thread is leading the way to the next generation of WASH programming, reaching 30 million people by 2030. We reflected on accomplishments and explored plans for the next five years.
Mapping the Blue Thread sets an exciting new direction for our work. It shapes a future where water, sanitation, and hygiene catalyze improved child well-being, economic growth, resilience, and lasting change. Rooted in local realities and powered by a global framework, the plan uses data-driven, entrepreneurial strategies to maximize impact. It highlights our five technical focus areas and ten program fundamentals that guide how we deliver water and sanitation services for everyone. The plan also standardizes tools like geospatial mapping and real-time monitoring to strengthen transparency and learning.
