World Vision’s peacebuilding efforts in Mindanao led to the formation of Zamboanga Amores Interfaith, a grassroots network of Christian and Muslim leaders promoting peace and social cohesion. Though World Vision ended development programs in Zamboanga in 2012, we maintained ties with Amores — an asset during the 2013 Zamboanga siege. Amores mobilized rapidly to support emergency response, coordinate with local authorities, and offer spiritual care. Since then, Amores has continued as an independent community-driven organization, addressing local needs like birth registration and fostering interfaith collaboration. This case illustrates the long-term value of interfaith partnerships in both humanitarian and development contexts.
