Since February 2022, the war in Ukraine has displaced 7.5 million children, making it the largest human displacement crisis in the world today. Children have been killed, injured, and traumatized by ongoing attacks in populated urban areas, which have also destroyed vital infrastructure like homes, schools, hospitals, and water systems. Around 5 million children are now displaced inside and outside Ukraine, facing heightened risks of physical harm, emotional trauma, family separation, and neglect — particularly those with disabilities or in institutions. Without urgent, coordinated action, the long-term impact on this generation of children will be profound.
