Faith & Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion

Integrating gender equality, disability and social inclusion with faith-based approaches is essential for lasting, inclusive change — so that every person can live with dignity, access opportunity, and experience hope.

Building a More Inclusive Future

Gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) are integral to World Vision’s mission of empowering children, families, and communities to reach their full potential by addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice. GEDSI is not only a goal in itself but also essential for sustainable humanitarian response, development, and peacebuilding.

To effectively integrate GEDSI with a faith-based lens, careful planning and resources are required to translate general principles into action. World Vision’s faith and development programs must apply a GEDSI lens to ensure equitable access, participation, decision-making, systems, and well-being. These interventions must also challenge and transform harmful gender and social norms to enable the most vulnerable populations to equally benefit from development efforts.

Integrating GEDSI in Faith Programming

To support the integration of GEDSI in our faith-based programs, World Vision has developed a comprehensive GESI and Faith Reference Guide. This guide is designed to strengthen GEDSI-responsive design and program quality assurance, ensuring that our interventions are both inclusive and transformative for the most vulnerable communities.
