The “Prioritizing GESI Across Health Interventions in Western Equatoria” project in South Sudan focuses on integrating Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into the public healthcare system to ensure equitable access to quality health services for marginalized communities. The project aimed to support health system reforms and address social determinants of health, particularly for women, children, persons with disabilities, and survivors of gender-based violence. Through collaboration with the Government of South Sudan’s Ministry of Health, the project strengthened health systems and referral mechanisms, improving health outcomes in five counties: Yambio, Nzara, Ezo, Tambura, and Negero. The Health Pooled Fund project, funded by DFID, the Government of Canada, SIDA, and USAID, supported 74 health facilities across two project lots, providing vital healthcare services to vulnerable populations and improving the equity and accountability of health service delivery.
