Cambodia’s youth — nearly 60% of the population — represent a powerful force for change, yet many face barriers such as limited education, low employment prospects, and lack of civic participation. World Vision Cambodia’s adolescent and youth programming addresses these challenges through a positive youth development approach that equips young people with life skills, leadership opportunities, and safe spaces to grow and lead. Evidence shows that project activities — including life skills training, sports for development, youth clubs, and service-learning projects—have enhanced the empowerment and well-being of male and female youth, while promoting gender equality and social inclusion. Youth were at the center of the program, taking on leadership roles, advocating for engagement in local decision-making, and fostering stronger ties with communities and local leaders. Parents and local stakeholders — including commune councils, schools, and faith leaders — played active roles in supporting the work, while the program also engaged national partners and government bodies to strengthen youth-focused policy and accountability.
