As a Christian organization, World Vision has long partnered with faith leaders — trusted figures with significant social and spiritual influence — to address public health crises such as HIV, Ebola, Zika, and most recently, COVID-19. Since the pandemic’s onset, World Vision has engaged over 124,000 faith actors to share health messages, support families, protect children, and promote resilience across communities. While some faith leaders contributed to misinformation and resistance to public health mandates, many played critical roles in modeling positive behaviors, promoting vaccine acceptance, and addressing community fears. World Vision used tools like Barrier Analysis to understand behavioral drivers and collaborate with faith leaders to design context-specific strategies that overcome misinformation, distrust, and social norms, ultimately leveraging faith networks as vital partners in protecting vulnerable populations during the pandemic.
