Community perspectives on child labor trafficking

This research highlights the issue of child labor trafficking in the Philippines, focusing on Cebu City and Mandaue City in Central Visayas. Drawing on surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews, the study examines how communities understand and respond to the trafficking of children for forced labor — a form of exploitation that remains often overlooked. It assesses current efforts by government and stakeholders, gauges community awareness of the issue, and explores existing reporting and protection mechanisms. Findings emphasize the need for strengthened community engagement, policy implementation, and protection systems to prevent the exploitation of children through labor trafficking.
