From 2016 to 2022, the Campos de Esperanza project — led by World Vision Mexico, Fondo para la Paz, and SiKanda — worked to prevent child labor and improve working conditions in migrant agricultural communities in Oaxaca and Veracruz. The initiative reached over 300,000 people through awareness campaigns and targeted support across the sugar, coffee, and education sectors. Highlights include training nearly 19,000 sugar sector workers on occupational safety and health, vaccinating nearly 8,000 agricultural workers, and educating over 1,500 at-risk children. In the coffee sector, over 500 producers were trained on labor rights, and community structures were strengthened through committees and producer groups. More than 2,900 public servants and labor inspectors were trained, while communities developed action plans to sustain progress. The project also promoted education and child protection through vocational training, mural campaigns, and the dissemination of critical health and labor information.
